Frequently Asked Questions:
What is henna?
Henna is a plant. The leaves are harvested, dried and ground up into powder.
How does henna create a design on skin?
When henna is combined with ingredients that have high enough PH level it develops brown dye. Once applied to skin, the dye moves a few layers into your skin and then develops a darker richer brown color. It is absolutely safe and creates a temporary tattoo.
Can henna be any other color than brown?
No. Natural henna will always create some sort of shade of brown depending on the paste recipe and type of skin.
How can I get black/red henna?
Black henna is created by adding a chemical dye called PPD to henna recipe. This dye have caused lots of skin trauma and scarring. Avoid black henna. It is really bad for you. Same is true about red henna.
What is in your paste?
My ingredients for henna crowns differ from a regular recipe. I use: henna powder, apple juice, lavender, and table sugar.
Can you adjust your recipe to accommodate for any allergies/sensitivities?
Make sure to mention your allergies as you fill out the Contact Me form. I will do all I can to accommodate you.
How long does it take to apply one henna crown?
Be prepared to spend 3 to 4 hours with me and then give it another 6 hours or more to help develop a good color.
When is best time for the appointment?
If you are trying to get a crown in time for a special event, allow 3 to 4 days for the color to fully develop. Mornings are the best time as they allow you to leave the paste on for a good amount of time before removing it to go to bed.
What if I have more questions?
